ticTOCs searches the RSS feeds from tables of contents of the latest editions of over 12,000 journals. You can search by using keywords and journal titles, and can also browse subject and publisher lists.

Registering with the service is advisable to ensure that your preferred TOCs are saved, and you can also export rss feeds to your preferred readers.

Twitter as an effective communications tool in academia

The University of Leicester has just published the results of a study which found that using Twitter helped students with their studies, particluarly in terms of developing peer support and personal learning networks. The study has been published in the Association for Learning Technology's latest newsletter.

Open Access article in THE

There is an excellent article in today's Times Higher Education by Zoe Corbyn and Matthew Reisz, which explains the benefits and issues of open access publishing, and the value of institutional repositories. It also examines the different methods of making research articles OA, and looks at the arguments against OA from publishers.
